Even though he’s currently bashing the skins for Them Crooked Vultures, Foo Fighters frontman Dave grohl is taking no break from the Foos. Grohl tells Rolling Stone that “Me and [Foos drummer] Taylor [Hawkins] have already started demoing songs”. grohl has tapped Nirvana’s neverming producer Butch Vig to record the new album, which will be recorded completely in analog.
With no firm timeline for release (though the month September was bandied about), the follow-up to 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace will also be accompanied by a documentary film, said Grohl, that will celebrate the Foos’ 16 years together and chronicle the making of the album. We rocked our first Hottest Chicks in Metal shoot for the new REVOLVER TV mobile application (Now on iPhone & Android) with the 2009 Golden Gods Hottest Chick in Metal winner Marta Peterson from the band Bleeding Through. Besides being a drop dead fox, Marta was super cool and we got the scoop she’s a full on Lady Gaga and Katy Perry fanatic. WHO KNEW !!! I doubt they crank that on the Bleeding Through tour bus. It was definitely our first shoot playing Lady Gaga and Pantera’s Vulger Display of Power disc back to back.
Be sure to check out the full shoot and interview on your REVOLVER TV app on your phone.
As we all know when a pop song blows up there immediately comes a flood of horrible remixes soon after. So it seems some aspiring metal heads have jumped on the chance to do metal remixes and covers of the hottest song on the airwaves right now, Ke$ha’s Tik Tok. Check ‘em out:
The reunion of Jane’s Addiction’s Nothing’s Shocking-era lineup has officially come to an end: bassist Eric Avery, who rejoined his bandmates in 2008 after their initial breakup 17 years prior, revealed on his Twitter that he has left the band. As Jane’s recent tour of Australia concluded, Avery wrote, “That’s it. With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane’s Addiction experiment is at an end.” Avery had previously fueled rumors that he was on the outs with Jane’s after tweeting in January that he was not participating in the band’s writing sessions. “Yes, Eric Avery has left the band. More to come but we wish him all the best!” Dave Navarro confirmed on his Twitter yesterday.
Here’s a look back a the first big reunion gig with all the original members at the NME Awards:
The new MOM album “A Public Disservice Announcement” is due for release May 2010. Watch for the first single, “Time Bomb”, to drop in March. “A Public Disservice Announcement” is the first truly collaborative effort an artist of Tommy’s magnitude has ever dared to attempt. The concept came easy, the execution did not — it took time, technology, patience and dedication. The first step was to set the parameters. Tommy and his team, including producer Scott Humphrey, singer-guitarist J3 and others, wrote and recorded the songs, which ran the gamut from hard rock anthems to ballads to dance tracks. Then they made the core components of each song available for download on ThePublicRecord.com to anyone who wished to add their playing or otherwise re-interpret the music however they saw fit. Tommy listened to every single submission that was uploaded, chose the best, and integrated the actual audio tracks into the album’s final cuts.
